Take an overnight train from Bangkok's Hua Mak station to Chiang Mai

added by Carol Lin via www.schemer.com

There are multiple ways to travel around Thailand. Easiest way is obviously taking a 1 hour flight but what fun would that be?

Head over to Hua Mak and book an overnight train to Chiang Mai. The train is pretty smooth and it takes about 12 hours to travel. You get lunch, dinner, and breakfast on the train and when it's night time, they'll come by and change the two seats you've been chillin' on into beds. Don't worry, you'll have curtains to pull over your bed but if you're hoping for first class transiberian suites? You're pretty much SOL.

Insider Tip: While you can just show up and buy a ticket there, I would recommend you book a ticket in advance, especially during high seasons.
