Different Ways to Explain Causation

This page covers the difference between correlation and causation, but its main value comes in showing us that variables could change for many reasons.

While a pair of variables may show a causal relationship, it is possible that outside variables (ones not represented in the data) may be the source of a causal relationship. Keep this in mind before reaching a conclusion about causality in your data.
