People often think they are being logical when in fact they are suffering from a Psychological Heuristic. Here are the most common ones that Psychology has discovered, so far. Learning them can help you know when you aren't being logical.

These heuristics seem to support Naturalist Fallacies --- that's the logic one applies because the probable outcome seems "natural" or logical, which is a common rhetorical trap/device, frequently applied in politics.

There is a really good article (based on a book) about a set of psychological barriers that are very common, egocentric tendencies... I'll try to find it, it was good.

Nudge is a great book that examines common heuristics, and proposes systemic fixes that would help people make decisions whose outcomes they would prefer over what they would've decided without aid. A good example is making a new employee's default option to enter a 401k, which overcomes the status quo heuristic (irrational preference for the status quo). They call the doctrine Libertarian Paternalism.
