You need some of those spikes and some caution fencing. You don't need expensive fence just some of that plastic fence should do.

Have you had success with starting your vegetable seedlings indoors? Does this just help get a head start? Are there other benefits of doing this?

I have not. Not much light in this house either. It could get the proper head start, but without lighting hung at proper distance, seedlings get leggy as they grow up to find light. I'll probably try again, fail, and go to Al's Greenhouse for the things that can't be seeded direct.

So, now that we're in the new place, I'm going crazy with this--no more urban squashed gardening--crazy homesteading gardening! If you guys were closer, you'd get some zucchini out of this!
